In Praise of You Tube - Friday, January 26, 2007

You may have heard of this phenomenon called “You Tube.” Basically, it is people able to do really stupid things and having everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) watch. It has had more practical uses as well.

In the 2006 mid term elections, politicians were featured on You Tube to try and promote themselves or being caught in their own stupidity. You Tube has also gone a bit “Pew Tube.” The United Church of Christ is marking its 50th anniversary by, among other things, asking its members to contribute video to the You Tube web site.

Believe it or not, Lutherans have gotten there as well. Check it out at:

This video begins with, “Love, what is it, really?” That’s a good question. The assertion of this spot is that, “there is one perfect love: God’s love, and it can strengthen all others.” Good point.

I invite you to turn your face toward God’s love. You will hear it in His word and see it in action in the Lord’s Supper. When you look into the face of God’s love in Christ, all other loves in your life are enriched.
