On Friday night and Saturday I will be getting together with some good friends. I have a few days with my collegial group with Pastoral Leadership Institute. I’ve only known these six other guys for two years, but I find myself longing to reconnect with them.
Our weekend will be spent learning from a mentor congregation, but the real highlight is always the time we spend sharing (unloading) with one another and praying for each other. I look forward to catching up with these guys. What I look forward to the most is receiving their support and being challenged by them at the same time. This is going to be a good weekend.
This past week I attended the funeral of the father and grandfather of some of our members. Ron was a pretty great guy and he will be truly missed. What I saw as the family remembered their joyous times with Ron is that God uses people to bring good into our lives. I hope I don’t have to wait until a funeral to celebrate that fact.
The pastors in my collegial are good friends because God uses them to bring good into my life. They are one of the vehicles God uses to bring His grace into my life. Some of the good that is in my life is there because I have come to know them.
Who are your good friends? How is God using them to bring good into your life? To whom are you a good friend?
Good questions!
