Yesterday I was privileged to care for some people who went through a very difficult experience. The details are unimportant but, from my perspective and experience, this was one of the worst things to experience. I can only imagine their pain.
We talked, cried, and prayed together. They were going through a bad time, a very bad time, certainly the worst time they had ever gone through. In some ways it was also the best because, coming through their tears was a hope and faith that was deeper than their sorrow. I recalled the verse form Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is your shelter, and his everlasting arms support you.” What I saw when I visited with this family was the arms of God holding us up in the middle of tragic circumstances.
I also saw their loss and grief. Yet, in the middle of the worst, was the best – the all-sufficient grace of God.
If this has been the worst day or the worst week or the worst month, I pray that God will give you eyes to see His everlasting arms supporting you. In your worst, God is still the best.
