The 8th graders earlier this year created some content on each U.S. president. Our 3rd graders then used some of this content as a starting point for their research project on a specific U.S. president. Today, the 3rd graders and 8th graders worked together to add the new information learned by the 3rd graders to the 8th grade wiki. Click here to go to the main
Presidents Page, and from there you may look at the content added by 3rd graders (keep in mind that there is new content for just over half of the presidents, due to the size of our 3rd grade class.
Our 8th graders were wonderful in leading and guiding our 3rd graders. And our 3rd graders were similarly very hard working and focused, especially when they realized that they were creating content for an entirely different audience -- a potentially global audience.
All in all it was a very successful experiment. Now the mind starts to think about all the other ways wikis may be used for cross-grade collaboration....
