and I'm the technology teacher at Shepherd of the Hills Christian School in Centennial, CO.

I have a heart and passion for technology and for educational ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ.

This blog is a natural result of these unique interests. I have 20 years of teaching experience in Lutheran schools, the last five exclusively as a technology teacher.

I seek to use the talents that God has given me to enhance His Kingdom in new, exciting, and creative ways, utilizing the technology tools with which we have been blessed to enhance ministry for Christ.

Here are some reflections on the past week -- some coherent, and some perhaps not! I was reminded again that illness may be one experience which God ...

Yesterday I made the 16 hour drive from NECC in San Antonio back home. There was plenty of time during the day to reflect upon our country and the blessings of our Lord through the country in which we live. While these reflections don't necessarily have anything to do with technology and education, I do feel compelled to share them nonetheless:

Lately blogging has become more of a chore than a joy. I'm wondering if that is a natural result of constantly being on the lookout for new ideas, sources, etc. to share with others. Or is it a bit of laziness that is creeping into my routine? Perhaps part of it is a sense of being overwhelmed by all the new technologies and ideas to be used and embraced. Whatever the reason, it has been difficult for me to discipline myself to sit down and formulate some coherent thoughts for these posts.

A lot of what I write about in this blog relates specifically to education. There are many ways in which I've used streaming video, such as through United Streaming or even YouTube or TeacherTube, for education. But on Saturday I experienced the blessing of streaming video in another way.

Yesterday we had a day off from school to attend our district's annual Nurturing the Faith seminar. The session is designed to build our faith and relationship with Jesus amidst the busy times of the

I've been reading a lot of different posts on blogs relating to educational technology and on Twitter which debate what a blog should be. Should blog posts be provocative, moving people to think

As you might imagine, we here in the Rocky Mountain west are quite excited about the Colordado Rockies reaching the World Series for the first time. Even in mid-September, no one would have thought it possible for the Rockies to be one of two teams left standing in October. Yet an incomprehensible streak of 21 victories in 22 games, just when it mattered most, has propelled the team toward a date with the Boston Red Sox.

Have you ever thought about creating your own blog? Perhaps you never considered it, thinking that you don't have anything important to say or offer others. Maybe it just seems like blogging would end up being another item on an already overburdened to-do list. Despite these reservations, I like to encourage others to take up blogging, particularly Lutheran educators. There are many fascinating blogs that relate to technology and education, but there are very few that relate technology and education to MINISTRY and the work of our Lord.

  • A Whole New Mind, by Daniel Pink: Actually, I'm re-reading this book (I may have to purchase a copy for myself instead of always using a library copy!)  Pink identifies six senses that are becoming essential for success in 21st century society. An excellent read for all educators and church leaders, even though it is not written from a Christian perspective.
  • Crazy '08, by Cait Murphy: A great study of the famous 1908 baseball season -- the last one where the Cubs won the World Series. Very much enjoying the description of the most memorable game in Cubs history -- the 4-2 victory at the New York Giants in the final National League game of that season.
