This wiki is built for a couple of different audiences: - For our students, so they might see the many ways we are working to meet academic needs for their futures.
- For our parents, so they might recognize that 21st century learning does not always mean that our children must learn as we learned, but so they might better understand the many ways we are striving to share Jesus every day with children and provide a strong academic curriculum, but also provide practical experiences in building future skills.
- For prospective parents, so that they will understand that sending a child to Shepherd of the Hills means that their child will learn about and grow with Jesus every single day, that their student will participate in a strong academic curriculum tied to state and local standards, and that their child is being prepared for their future with specific 21st Century Skills so that they might be able to prosper and adapt in a rapidly changing world.
- For other teachers and schools who know that education is changing and who know that they too need to change, but have a difficult time understanding what this change means. It is hoped that other teachers and schools will benefit from the structure of one school's vision for education.
Please note that this site is a work in progress. Teachers are learning how to add lessons and activities to the site and will continue to do so throughout this year. As a result, we encourage you to think of this site as a “beta” project – one that is ready for others to view but not fully complete in itself. Still, we are proud to share all the many ways teachers at SOTH are meeting the needs of our students, not just those needs of today, but also for their futures. We would love to have your feedback on this site. Feel free to email me here and/or share a comment to this post.

I'm currently part way through an Australian Pilot of the new Intel Teaching Essentials Online course.Without going into too much detail, it's a course that fosters reflection on the pedagogy of using web based tools in your daily classroom life. Eg, Develop a unit of work the fosters both higher order thinking skills and 21st century skills, meets your jurisdictional syllabus outcomes, introduces practical ways of using blogs, wikis, and other online tools such as google docs, Zoho, and del.icio.us, all within a quality framework of formative and summative assessments. Basically its about best practice, and so far I have found it to be exemplary.

- A Whole New Mind, by Daniel Pink: Actually, I'm re-reading this book (I may have to purchase a copy for myself instead of always using a library copy!) Pink identifies six senses that are becoming essential for success in 21st century society. An excellent read for all educators and church leaders, even though it is not written from a Christian perspective.
- Crazy '08, by Cait Murphy: A great study of the famous 1908 baseball season -- the last one where the Cubs won the World Series. Very much enjoying the description of the most memorable game in Cubs history -- the 4-2 victory at the New York Giants in the final National League game of that season.
