and I'm the technology teacher at Shepherd of the Hills Christian School in Centennial, CO.

I have a heart and passion for technology and for educational ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ.

This blog is a natural result of these unique interests. I have 20 years of teaching experience in Lutheran schools, the last five exclusively as a technology teacher.

I seek to use the talents that God has given me to enhance His Kingdom in new, exciting, and creative ways, utilizing the technology tools with which we have been blessed to enhance ministry for Christ.

Someone asked me the other day if I believed in divine intervention. I think it was a rhetorical question. In my line of work, it would be a little inconsistent to NOT believe in divine intervention.

What I have come to believe about God’s intervention in my life is that it is often only in looking back that I see the hand of God. When I’m in the middle of a difficulty, I ask God to intervene – to step in and get me out of my problems. When I look back, I can see how God used the problem to intervene on my behalf.

Ultimately, God intervened in human history by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the world. He intervened in my life by bringing me to that grace so that I can say “Jesus died for my sins.” Do I believe in divine intervention? Absolutely – I am staking my life and my eternity on God’s intervention in Jesus Christ.

One other observation about divine intervention: God often works through one person to intervene in the life of another. A kind note lifts the spirits of someone who is quietly despairing over a private loss. A courteous act brightens someone’s day when they are tired. A word of hope brings grace into the life of someone who isn’t quite sure how or if God intervenes in the lives of people. Today, you may be the person that God uses to intervene in the world. I pray that you are.

  • A Whole New Mind, by Daniel Pink: Actually, I'm re-reading this book (I may have to purchase a copy for myself instead of always using a library copy!)  Pink identifies six senses that are becoming essential for success in 21st century society. An excellent read for all educators and church leaders, even though it is not written from a Christian perspective.
  • Crazy '08, by Cait Murphy: A great study of the famous 1908 baseball season -- the last one where the Cubs won the World Series. Very much enjoying the description of the most memorable game in Cubs history -- the 4-2 victory at the New York Giants in the final National League game of that season.
