and I'm the technology teacher at Shepherd of the Hills Christian School in Centennial, CO.

I have a heart and passion for technology and for educational ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ.

This blog is a natural result of these unique interests. I have 20 years of teaching experience in Lutheran schools, the last five exclusively as a technology teacher.

I seek to use the talents that God has given me to enhance His Kingdom in new, exciting, and creative ways, utilizing the technology tools with which we have been blessed to enhance ministry for Christ.

Here is a list of links I've recently found that might be of interest to teachers in Lutheran schools and Lutheran technology specialists:

  • Twitter is fast becoming an integral part of my personal professional development network. Following like minded people who are creative in the field of education opens my eyes to so many new ideas and resources. Here is a short video which explains the power behind Twitter.
  • Take a look at these predictions, made by the Ladies Home Journal at the dawn of the 20th century. How many came true? How many were way off? You might use these predictions to engage students in a writing project for predicting 21st century progress.
  • SparkNotes are free online study guides on works of literature and other academic topics. Check this out!
  • I'm using Boohbah with my preschool students this week. This site comes highly recommended from noted early childhood educator Gail Lovely and encourages young students to explore with technology. Try it out! It is a lot of fun!
  • I find myself using Zoho almost as much for online word processing and collaboration as Google Docs. To be honest, I like the Zoho interface better. One of the things I've learned from Twitter is that the Cool Cat Teacher is really finding Zoho Notebook useful for collaboration and presentations. I will need to give that more of a test run.

  • A Whole New Mind, by Daniel Pink: Actually, I'm re-reading this book (I may have to purchase a copy for myself instead of always using a library copy!)  Pink identifies six senses that are becoming essential for success in 21st century society. An excellent read for all educators and church leaders, even though it is not written from a Christian perspective.
  • Crazy '08, by Cait Murphy: A great study of the famous 1908 baseball season -- the last one where the Cubs won the World Series. Very much enjoying the description of the most memorable game in Cubs history -- the 4-2 victory at the New York Giants in the final National League game of that season.
