Before you can use Live Writer to post to TheChurchDoor.com you'll need to download and install the software. You can get it here. There are several pieces of software in the "Live" package so only select from the available items those you wish to install. I do recommend taking a look at Mail, Photo Gallery and of course Writer. This capability also extends itself to Microsoft Word 2007!
After your software is installed you'll need to configure it to connect to your TCD account. It's important to note that this also requires us to turn the service on for your account. If you would like the service turned on just add a comment to this post and we'll take care of it for you.
Once Writer is installed and started you will be asked if you already have a Blog or if you need to set one up. Select "I already have a weblog set up"
Next you will be asked to choose your Weblog Type. Select "Another weblog service"
The next screen will have you populate your credentials. The weblog Homepage URL is http://www.thechurchdoor.com. Add your username and password.
Choose Metaweblog API as your Provider with http://www.thechurchdoor.com/desktopmodules/digmeta/meta.ashx as the "Remote posting URL" and select "Next". Live Writer will now connect to TheChurchDoor.com and retrieve your editable space(s)
Select the weblog of your choice, there will probably be only one listed, "TCD Blog - Your Name"
You will then be asked if you wish to create a temporary post so Writer can detect your themes. Select "No"
Your Done! Select "Finish" and Live Writer will open up and your ready to add content.
I'll create some additional posts on how to use Live Writer and some of the 3rd party plug-ins over the next few days.
