First, Dan R., who I know only through the Technology in Lutheran Schools site, has posted some excellent work of his student using Scratch. These videos may be used at http://scratch.mit.edu/users/dreinert. Note how Dan encouraged his students to share their faith and spiritual understandings through this technology. I also leared of a wiki which has some Scratch tutorials, as well as another site that provides Scratch tutorials for beginners.
One of the concerns about using open source programming tools has been the lack of instrucation and documentation found with the software. However, that appears to be changing. The documentation isn't always being created by the programmers, but rather by interested users. I'm looking forward to having my students explore Scratch as a part of some programming and digital storytelling.
