As educators we have engaged in a lively debate over the merits of
Wikipedia and its model as an educational source. However, it seems to me that it is with current events such as these tragic shootings that
Wikipedia shines, sharing information in a timely and accurate manner when hundreds of people are collaborating on the content at a single moment. Note the heavy using of hyperlink footnotes in this particular article.
Perhaps the value of this site is best found at times of crisis rather than through static articles that don't change much over time.
