and I'm the technology teacher at Shepherd of the Hills Christian School in Centennial, CO.
I have a heart and passion for technology and for educational ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ.
This blog is a natural result of these unique interests. I have 20 years of teaching experience in Lutheran schools, the last five exclusively as a technology teacher.
I seek to use the talents that God has given me to enhance His Kingdom in new, exciting, and creative ways, utilizing the technology tools with which we have been blessed to enhance ministry for Christ.

This post is much more personal than professional, but I was sorting through some digital pictures on my computer and I thought I would share my favorite pictures of 2007. Each picture has a story

I've had a little time over the past couple of days to play with Pageflakes, a site which allows users to create personalize home pages (complete with tabs for additional pages) pulling information from all over the Internet. I'm quickly finding this to be a very useful tool, and I'm starting to like this better than iGoogle for organizing information.

Another valuable Technology in Lutheran Schools conversation has led to the discovery of some new resources for Scratch, programming software for students created by MIT. While I haven't had the chance to spend as much time with this software as I would like, I intend to use this with students for the first time during the second semester.

A thread on the TechLearning blog entitled Death of a Blogger has been getting some buzz in the educational blogging world. There are some who seem to believe that blogging is a dying art (already!), something that is being taken over by other technologies. However, I see this discussion as having the potential to build some discernment in identifying which technology tools are most appropriate for specific tasks.

I used an online snowflake creator with my kindergarten students yesterday. I had no idea these children would find the activity so wildly fun and engaging. There were plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the class period -- so much so that I'm sure I will give some other classes the chance to give this activity a try.

- A Whole New Mind, by Daniel Pink: Actually, I'm re-reading this book (I may have to purchase a copy for myself instead of always using a library copy!) Pink identifies six senses that are becoming essential for success in 21st century society. An excellent read for all educators and church leaders, even though it is not written from a Christian perspective.
- Crazy '08, by Cait Murphy: A great study of the famous 1908 baseball season -- the last one where the Cubs won the World Series. Very much enjoying the description of the most memorable game in Cubs history -- the 4-2 victory at the New York Giants in the final National League game of that season.
